MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The late Rep. John Lewis continues to be regarded for his life span determination to social justice. On Tuesday, Legal Companies Alabama held a virtual celebration honoring transform-makers who are producing a change.
Lawful Providers Alabama, or LSA, held its annual Justice, Fairness & Hope Awards. Set up in 2020 by LSA, the John Lewis Hope Award was bestowed on the late congressman for his life time commitment to social justice. Entire world-renowned civil legal rights attorney Fred Grey is the receiver of the 2022 John Lewis Hope Award.
“He is an icon of the civil rights movement, and labored with Congressman Lewis heading again those people several a long time, and his full career has been concentrated on hope, and thus it is our belief that he exemplified the greatest of John Lewis, and we wished to realize him for all of his contributions in Alabama over the years,” stated Person Lescault, govt director Authorized Providers Alabama.
All of the revenue raised goes to the John Lewis Fellowship, which was released by LSA in 2019. This fellowship provides employment alternatives to new legislation graduates with just one mission and intent.
Lescault claimed the John Lewis Fellowship is “to recruit lawyers fresh new out of law school who would pursue a social justice career with Authorized Service of Alabama and get the job done on problems that affect our clientele as it relates to inequities in the legislation for housing, training and well being.”
LaVeeda Struggle gained the Tommy Wells Justice Award, and the Pro Bono Fairness Award went to John Brinkley.
