Texas’ best felony court upholds conviction of former Dallas cop Amber Guyger

AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) – Texas’ best felony court docket has declined to reconsider previous Dallas Law enforcement officer Amber Guyger’s murder conviction, properly upholding the sentence and exhausting the appeals method.

This marks the most recent setback in a string of appeals Guyger’s lawyers have submitted due to the fact she was sentenced to 10 decades in jail in 2019 for the murder of Botham Jean.

Guyger fatally shot Jean in his Dallas apartment in September 2018 soon after she walked into the device, mistakenly believing it was her have. She claimed she imagined Jean was an intruder.

Guyger’s petition for discretionary assessment questioned the court to rethink her conviction on the grounds that it “the evidence was lawfully inadequate to help the jury’s rejection of her self-defense assert.”

Her legal professionals alleged that the prosecution did not thoroughly demonstrate that Guyger did not believe she was getting into her have apartment or that she moderately believed Jean to be an intruder.

With the appeals approach fatigued, Guyger will keep on serving her 10 calendar year sentence in Mountain View Point out Prison in Gatesville.

She will be eligible for parole in 2024.
